Today it was due date. Due date for finally packing away the Christmas decoration. And I have to admit that I got a bit sad when I put everything in its boxes. As it is not yet really time for spring decoration, the apartment feels really empty now. Luckily I have the best distraction coming up tonight – Hanna and I are gonna have a real Girls Movie Night 🙂
Such a special night has to planned thoroughly: what movies, which salty snacks, how much chocolate, sparkling wine or normal wine …
For the movies, we’ve decided to go classic – everything with Richard Gere, starting off with Pretty Woman. I actually think that he gets more charming and handsome the older he gets 😉
For the food, we’re going in three steps – homemade pizza, dessert in every possible form, salty snacks for avoiding a sugar shock.
I really like to make pizza self, it is easy and fast and tastes much better than take away pizza. For the dough I usually use a recipe that my mum once wrote down for me.
- 400 g flour
- 1 pack dry yeast
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 250 ml warm water
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
Mix the flour with yeast and sugar. Then add water, salt and olive oil and knead the dough properly. Cover it with a moist dishcloth and put it to a warm place for about 30 minutes (I usually put it on the heating). Take out the dough and knead it once more. Roll it on baking paper and start with the topping 🙂
My favorite topping is plain tuna with a bit of red onion and maybe some red pepper and mozzarella instead of normal pizza cheese. Don’t forget the spices! Salt and peppar and for example basil or oregano is what I normally use. But basically you can put (almost) everything on pizza – that’s what makes it so great and why it’s perfect for use the leftovers from the fridge 😉 Tonight we go with ham, pineapple and cheese. That’s what we call it Pizza Hawaii 😛
For the dessert we didn’t do any shopping ’cause we have so much sweet stuff left from dinner parties/movie nights/NYE guests/cookie baking sessions… So our dessert variation will consist of Christmas cookies, chocolate I brought from Austria (BEST EVER!), Manner Schnitten, tiramisu that friends brought for NYE and ended up in the freezer as we were too busy with partying than we could have eaten it all and ice cream! Ambitious, aren’t we? 😉
By that we will probably not be able any longer to move from the sofa to the kitchen to prepare some salty snacks. IF we manage, we go for classic movie snacks: popcorn and chips!
Happy weekend to all of you 🙂
