Green, green, green …

With every day it feels more like spring and summer are here for good now – my nose got its first sunburn of the year! 😀

As mentioned before, the absolute spring color for me is green. So that’s the color that can be found all over the apartment… 🙂

One might think that candles in the bathroom are unnecessary
as we don’t have a bathtub and therefore no romantic baths…

… but who says you that folding laundry can’t be romantic either? 😉

But now it’s really time for Spring…

After my last post – so one and a half weeks ago, time passes so fast – I escaped the cold, grey, wintery weather here in Sweden and took a plane to Spain. Yes. I enjoyed a whole week of Spanish Spring and it was amazing.

Warm, beach, sunny, sea. Blooming flowers, green grass. Being outside without five layers of clothes.

Don’t get the wrong idea – it was far from really hot summer weather and no, we did not take a swim in the sea. For that it is definitely too early. But it was amazing to feel the sun on the skin, to sit outside in the restaurants, to see the nature waking up. It was perfect for recharging my batteries and filling up my body with sun. A Light in the Dark

December is definitely the darkest month of the year – short days, long nights and quite a lot of grey clouds (at least in here). But then there is all this beautiful Christmas things going on. And those make December to one of the most amazing months 🙂

In Sweden, one of the most important and most beautiful Christmas traditions is celebrating Lucia. It is celebrated on December 13th and there are Lucia processions all over town, in schools and kindergardens, in companies and hospitals. Lucia and her companions wear white, long dresses and carry candles with them – Lucia wears them in a crown on her head, the others usually simply hold them. They sing traditional Christmas songs and of course the songs about Lucia herself. And these song gives me a special, warm feeling and makes my heart melt every time I hear them. They describe how Lucia with her lights brings warmth and hope into the dark, how she lightens up everything, even through the darkest hour.

I spent my Lucia day out at dinner with friends and then we went to a Lucia concert together (unfortunately without my camera, so please excuse the not so amazing quality of the phone camera pictures). It was really heartwarming and afterwards I felt like the world around me is much lighter and friendlier 🙂

On the way home I got something that one should not miss to have on Lucia day: Lussekatter 🙂 It is really soft, fluffy buns made with saffron and two raisins on top that are only eaten during December and especially on Lucia day… the perfect ending for this special day!

O Tannenbaum

Red, green and white are my favorite Christmas colors, they spend so much warmth and cosiness… and  if the snow takes its time again, the white makes up for it 😉

It is still two weeks to go to Christmas, but it’s never too early to get everything ready for it. So, yesterday we went to get our Christmas tree (by public transport – people look like they’ve never seen trees before, when you carry one through almost the whole city and into a bus – big thanks to Joonas for the carrying). Candle in the Winter

Life is much prettier with candles. They make it warmer, cosier, really homey. And when are those feelings more important than during winter and Christmas time? Exactly: This time of the year is candle time! Continue reading
